What is the artist’s responsibility for his/her time? What are the expectations for the future? Is ancestry present in this process? The meeting in art – about time and responsibility in the body, in the territory, and in artistic practice – is to think and give meaning to time. February 8, at 10 am

Lecture The History of the Black Population of Vitória
With Marcus Vinícius Sant’Ana

Register: Lecture The History of the Black Population of Vitória

The historical outline of the lecture begins with enslaved African societies, passing through the routes traveled, slave centers that emerged in Espírito Santo until arriving at the specific geographic outline [Vitória], where the territories formed, the survival strategies and cultures created within a process of precariousness and imposition of subordination are explained. It ends with a proposal for reflection on the contemporary scenario, addressing the erasure of black history [in narrative and physical terms, with the Historic Center as a geographic outline] and its contribution to the formation of the culture and identity of the people of Espírito Santo.

Call: a conversation about shells, heritage, cities and legacy
With Gabriela Gaia

Register: Call: a conversation about shells, heritage, cities and legacy

Who were the people who built the architecture that stands in our cities? What stories can be told based on what these people experienced while carrying out their work? Using the shells we find in the sea as a metaphor, remnants of the shelter produced by bivalve mollusks decades or even hundreds of years ago, this call invites us to think about the making of the city and its buildings as a legacy left by builders from many generations. The material history of cities is intertwined with the history of the daily work of construction workers, in their trades as bricklayers, marble workers, blacksmiths, metalworkers, etc. The city is, therefore, the legacy left by builders to their descendants. We invite you, descendants and heirs of the workers who built our cities, to share memories and stories that will help us collectively build a plural narrative about this legacy. Photos, documents, and newspaper clippings that help tell these stories are welcome!
