Museu Vale continues its Exhibition Production training, focusing on educational activities that present some of the disciplines that involve this specific knowledge.
The seventh module, prepared by João Rivera, aims to present the logistics of assembling an art exhibition from start to finish. From collecting the work from the collection to installing it in the exhibition space, covering topics ranging from loans and reports, to discussions on museum infrastructure, and all the way to the installation of the works. Packaging materials, tools, and the different types of installation hardware will be presented.
What will be covered in the training?
Lesson 01: Introduction to the operation of art transport logistics
Lesson 02: Safe unloading and transport. Use of equipment, lifting platform, pallet truck, dolly
Lesson 03: Packing/unpacking and handling. Preparation of the workspace, tables, light, energy
Lesson 04: Preparation of an assembly layout in the space, presentation of different surfaces and installation hardware
Lesson 05: Assembly, retouching and organization of the warehouse
João Rivera
João Rivera is a shipbuilding technician (Unitec, New Zealand, 2007), holds a master’s degree in design (PUC-Rio, 2013) and has been working in the art market for 15 years. In his early years, he worked in the studio of artist Carlito Carvalhosa, prototyping and developing his work. He currently works on the international circuit of fairs, biennials and museums, with different logistics companies for transport and art assembly.
