The “Vibrações de Casaca: O Som do Congo” project, carried out by the Museu Vale in partnership with Congo Master João Ifakorede, promotes music and storytelling workshops focused on valuing Congo culture. Aimed at children and teenagers aged 6 to 17, it seeks to revive Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous traditions in a playful and educational way.
The activities are led by Professor André Malverdes, a specialist in Cultural Heritage Preservation and Management, and by workshop leaders Ailton Telles and João Ifakorede, who teach the use of traditional Congo instruments such as the casaca, drum, triangle, and bombo, as well as the main songs of popular festivities.
The project encourages youth leadership, strengthens identity, and fosters respect for diversity, promoting cultural appreciation and the preservation of intangible heritage.
