In March, we invited producer Marisa Mello to open another season of the Exhibition Production Training, held by the Museu Vale.

Active in the creation, development, planning, coordination, and management of cultural, educational, and production projects in the visual arts field, Marisa is part of the Automatica production team, bringing her experience to lead the first module of this edition.

The meetings aim to define a cultural project based on an understanding of the context of cultural policies, cultural policies, and a specific understanding of what culture is. Based on applied methodology, existing projects, exhibition cases, and visual arts projects will be analyzed, with the objectives of:

  • Reflecting on the project beyond a planning and fundraising tool.
  • Identify and define the items for developing a cultural project in visual arts;
  • Present the production stages involved in carrying out an exhibition project.
  • Conceive and implement an exhibition project, based on the analysis of a specific context and the use of appropriate management tools to meet cultural demands.

Who is Marisa Mello?

Marisa S. Mello has worked in the creation, development, planning, coordination, and management of cultural and educational projects and productions in the visual arts field at the production company Automatica (www.automatica.art.br) since 2008.

She also dedicates herself to producing and editing publications, such as books and catalogs, at Automatica Edições (www.automatica.art.br/editora).

She is the editor and coordinator, in partnership with Luiza Mello, of the ARTE BRA Collection, about contemporary Brazilian artists, with twelve published volumes and an online platform with all the content available (www.colecaoartebra.com).

She collaborates with Galpão Bela Maré/Observatório de Favelas (www.belamare.org.br), where she works, among other projects, on Elã – Escola Livre de Artes, a formative residency, a space for creation and reflection in the aesthetic and political fields, and for promoting contemporary artistic production.

She holds a doctorate in history and a specialization in cultural management. *Free event
