Workshop Where does the clay for clay pots come from? | Museu Vale Extramuros
 24.Out
 Suitable for all ages.

Museu Vale is hosting the workshop “Where does the clay for the clay pot come from?”, by Jéssica Campos and Lucineia de Jesus, as part of the “Clay: From Earth to Earth” seminar program at the Governor’s House Cultural Park. The activity offers a cultural experience geared towards children and teenagers, who will be able to learn firsthand about the production process of the traditional clay pot from Espírito Santo.

In a sensory and interactive way, the workshop presents this ancestral practice, allowing participants to experience direct contact with the clay and understand the stages of its transformation.

Jéssica Campos: An artist, craftswoman, and popular researcher from Vitória (ES), Jéssica Campos continues a knowledge passed down through four generations in her family. Since 2018, she has been developing research on the traditional clay of the Mulembá Valley, combining ancestral craftsmanship with contemporary creation. Her pieces and works bring together Afro-Indigenous references and memories of the territory, reaffirming the strength of popular culture.

Lucinéia de Jesus: A potter for 29 years, Lucinéia de Jesus dedicates her life to the artisanal production of clay pots, a tradition that sustains her family and is an integral part of the cultural identity of Espírito Santo. In addition to production, she shares her knowledge in workshops and cultural events, representing Espírito Santo at fairs and exhibitions in various regions of the country.
