As part of the Public Program of the exhibition “African Languages that Make Brazil,” the Museu Vale invites artist Aline Motta for an open conversation about her work “Corpo Celeste III” and its relationship to the Bakongo cosmogram, sacred symbols, and proverbs.
The work was created in collaboration with Rafael Galante, and, as the artist explains: “the animation is constructed from ancient sacred forms of Central African graphic writings, in this case especially those of the Bakongo people, and also from their Afro-Brazilian diasporic developments expressed in the so-called ‘sacred symbols’.” The projections, through the images and the sound emitted, create an immersive experience in which the public will find themselves involved with the work.
